The firm was established in 1997 and is a member of the International
League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB).
After a few years in the auction business in the
provincial town of Louvain, Henri Godts becomes the assistant of
antiquarian bookseller Louis Moorthamers in Brussels
whom grandfather founded his bookshop in 1894 in Antwerp.
Henri Godts establishes the valuations
for auctions, provides estimates in case of inheritance or partition,
officiates at auctions and drafts the catalogue descriptions essentially
of maps, atlases and manuscripts. He is member of the “Chambre
belge de la Librairie ancienne et moderne” (CLAM)
being the association of Belgian antiquarian booksellers and member
of the “Brussels International Map Collectors’ Circle”
(BIMCC).
Having worked in the field
of ancient books for 25 years, the historian Carine Deprez
takes care since the creation of the bookshop of writing the remaining
descriptions for the auction catalogues (especially 19th & 20th
century books, Japanese prints, modern graphics, autographs...)
and ensures their publication in print and on the Internet. She
is also in charge of the company’s computer system and has
designed and developed this website for which web-o-net
provides the ASP support.
Marie Palmucci, a young historian specialized in
Ancient History, has joined the team since January 2012.
